The Association of
Educational Therapists (Singapore)

serves a vital purpose in the field of educational therapy by providing a professional framework that supports educational therapists and the individuals they serve. The AETS is dedicated to enhancing the quality of educational therapy through leadership, advocacy, and the establishment of standards for practice.

Educational therapy has been formally recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) since 1986 as the gold standard non-pharmacological approach for addressing a wide range of learning difficulties, disorders, and differences. The WHO framework for inclusive education affirms that every learner, regardless of ability, deserves equal opportunities to succeed.

Unlike traditional tutoring, educational therapy is a wide-ranging and highly individualised intervention that addresses the cognitive, academic, emotional, and behavioural aspects of learning. It supports neurodiverse individuals, including those with ADHD, autism, or learning disabilities, focusing on the how of learning rather than the what, and helping individuals develop the skills and strategies they need to thrive.
